deviantART

first afternoon on Diviant

Sun Feb 17, 2008, 2:30 AM
Diviant is a really cool site. I can't wait to start looking at all the pictures by the people that stopped by my page and left really warm kind words.

There seems to be a different atmosphere altogether. I'm still unfamiliar with the way the HTML is dropped onto the page for customizing but will become clear I'm sure.

  • Listening to: Alessandra celletti
  • Playing: guitar
  • Eating: cheddar cheese and brown bread
  • Drinking: Leo beer

You can't really drop much code onto your page. If you want to customize your "journal" layout, you'll need to pay for a deviantART subscription and then use CSS instead of standard html to make it work.

Glad you're having fun already! You really filled my inbox up with deviations after I +watched you, it was rather overwhelming!

I'm really happy you messaged me! tks. You're right, I'm a little disorientated but am having fun just right now and found both your notes really helpful.

I've got to work fast today (Sunday) as the internet in Thailand is slow for uploads during the week, very little bandwidth to go round going international.

Thanks for the info on the HTML issue. Is there a non-subs. way to a add at least I friendly photo to the main page?

Nope, not that I know of. Images in your journal/main page are a subscribers-only feature, as far as I know of. However, what you can do is submit an image as a deviation, like you have of your art. Then, go to your user/account settings and look for the option to set a "deviant ID" or something like that. It will let you choose from images you have submitted, and you can make that image stay on your main page, like a greeting or a user-ID.

I think there are certain code that you can use in your journal even if you're not a subscriber, try check this faq :
FAQ #104: What HTML formatting can we use on deviantART? And what is the format for these codes?
